Alternative to Spond

Alternative to Spond for Spanish clubs

Spond is excellent for free team communication. But if there's a club behind (with NIF, SEPA, IS and members paying fees in EUR), Spond doesn't fit Spain. Here is why OneClub may fit you better.

Spain-native · Stripe Connect · LOPIVI · Spanish-language support

Why you are looking for an alternative

Why are you looking for an alternative to Spond?

Spond works well for what it's designed for — amateur team communication. The problem starts when your club needs more than that.

  • No SEPA: you can't direct-debit fees in Spain

Spond is Norwegian-origin and, while it has a payments module, it doesn't support native SEPA Direct Debit for Spanish clubs. Parents pay by card event-by-event, not by recurring mandate. For a club collecting monthly fees from 200 families, this is blocking: SEPA is the majority method in Spain, not optional.

  • No NIF invoicing or Spanish tax compliance

Spond doesn't issue invoices with the club's NIF and doesn't integrate with your accountant. If your club is taxed under IS (Corporate Income Tax), has a CIF and needs to reconcile collections with your chart of accounts, Spond doesn't give you the outputs (CSV with correct fiscal fields, Spanish accounting integrations). Your accountant asks you for another tool.

  • No LOPIVI or RGPD designed for Spain

Spond complies with European-level RGPD but doesn't have a specific module for LOPIVI (Spain's Organic Law for Integral Protection of Children and Adolescents, in force since 2021). There's no native protocol, no protection delegate, no management of negative sex offense certificates for coaches working with minors. You have to handle it separately.

  • Team-management focus, not club-management

Spond is designed for a coach to manage their team: communication, attendance, events. It's not designed for a club to manage 15 teams, a treasury, a federation match calendar, a board of directors and a member portal. When it grows beyond an amateur team, Spond falls short.

It's normal that you're looking for an alternative. Spond is an excellent tool for what it was designed for — managing the communication of an amateur team, free, with good UX. The problem isn't Spond. The problem is that your need has grown and now you're managing a club, not a team.

What OneClub does differently

What OneClub does differently

OneClub is built in Spain and for Spain. These are the four differences that matter for local clubs.

  • Stripe Connect with native SEPA and card for Spain

OneClub uses Stripe Connect with Spanish onboarding: your club signs with Stripe directly, you receive collections in your Spanish bank account, you direct-debit fees via SEPA and you collect card/Apple Pay. All in EUR, all invoiced to the club. Standard Stripe fees (1.5% + €0.25 card · 0.8% capped €5 SEPA), no OneClub surcharge.

  • NIF invoicing and Spanish accounting exports

OneClub generates invoices with the club's NIF, correlative invoice number and IVA breakdown when applicable. CSV/XLSX exports compatible with Spanish accounting (Holded, Quaderno, Anfix, A3) and account mapping for the Spanish PGC chart. Your accountant receives what they need without extra work.

  • Native LOPIVI: protocol, documentation and CNDD

OneClub manages LOPIVI documentation natively: child protection protocol, protection delegate designation, collection of the Negative Sex Offense Certificate for coaches with minors, RGPD image consents, and mandatory notifications. No external documentation, no Excel sheets.

  • Full club-management: 15 teams, treasury, federation matches

OneClub manages the club as an organization, not loose teams. Multi-team with category assignment (U10 to senior), treasury with consolidated view, federation calendar, public member portal with SEO, and dashboard for your board. Spond doesn't compete on this axis — it's team-management, not club-management.

Honesty first

When you should NOT switch to OneClub

If all you need is a free tool for your coach to communicate trainings and matches to the parents' WhatsApp group, without collecting monthly fees and without invoicing anything, stay with Spond. It does exactly that, it's free (ad-supported), it has a good mobile app and parents already know it. Migrating to OneClub for that use case is over-engineering: you're paying (even on the free Starter plan) for club-management features you won't use.

If your club doesn't have a NIF, doesn't formally tax, doesn't issue invoices and collects fees by hand or by Bizum, OneClub is overkill. Stay on Spond until the club formalizes. When that moment comes (registration as sports association, NIF, IS), we talk again.

How to migrate from Spond to OneClub

The process usually closes in 2-3 days. Without stopping the club.

  1. 1

Export the members list from Spond

Spond lets you export the group's members list to CSV from the group's admin panel. Export the events calendar too if you need to preserve it. There's nothing to export from payments because Spond doesn't manage recurring fees as such — you'll start the fee cycle from scratch in OneClub.

  2. 2

    Assisted importer in OneClub

You upload the CSVs to OneClub and map the columns (name, email, team, category). We help you structure your team tree by Spanish categories (U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U19, senior). You configure fee plans and open member signup.

  3. 3

    Member onboarding and go-live

You send your members an email with the signup link. Parents register, choose payment method (card, Apple Pay or SEPA) and sign LOPIVI documentation. In 1-2 weeks you have the base migrated. OneClub assists with the email template and monitors signups.

We assign you a dedicated onboarder during migration. No extra cost, no annual contract. If you need us to call you before starting, write to hola@oneclubapp.com.

Clubs that switched
We started with Spond when we were a team of 25 kids. In 3 seasons we've grown to 6 teams and 140 members, and Spond fell short: we couldn't direct-debit fees, invoice with CIF or comply with LOPIVI. We switched to OneClub and finally professionalized our management.
