Definition
Each Spanish region maintains its own Registry of Sports Entities (Registro Andaluz, Català, Madrileño, etc., with equivalent names). It records the sports entities regulated by regional law: elementary and basic sports clubs, regional federations, regional leagues and, in some cases, sports sections of associations.
Registration has two effects: 1) it recognises the club as a sports entity for regional purposes (access to grants, programmes, regional federations) and 2) it lets the club evidence its existence before third parties (bank, city council, tax authority). Without registration the club cannot fully operate.
When does it apply?
Required at incorporation and every time relevant data changes: statute amendment, change of registered office, board additions and removals, mergers, dissolution. Regions usually charge a fee for initial registration and for amendments; ranges from €0 (Asturias, La Rioja in some cases) to €50-100.
