Definition
LOPDGDD (Organic Law 3/2018 on Personal Data Protection and Digital Rights) is the Spanish law that develops GDPR in areas where the EU regulation leaves room for national legislators. Covers issues such as: minimum consent age (14 in Spain), processing for public interest, data protection in employment and education, and the new 'digital rights' (right to disconnect, digital oblivion on social media, digital will).
For a sports club the most relevant points are the consent age for minors (14+ can consent themselves; below that the parent/guardian consents) and the specific regulation of data processing by non-profit entities.
When does it apply?
Applies simultaneously with GDPR since 2018. It's important because it resolves ambiguities in the EU regulation: on minors' image, data sharing with federations, data retention after a member leaves and digital rights, LOPDGDD is the reference. Ignoring it forces you to interpret GDPR without the Spanish lens.
